Badminton made its debut as a demonstration sport in the 1972 Olympic Games at Munich. It wasn’t before the 1992 Games at Barcelona it had been formally included on the Olympic programme, together with men’s and women’s singles and doubles events. The mixed doubles event made its introduction 1996 in the Atlanta Olympic Games. Since afterward, the number of occasions has remained unchanged.
