“Obviously it’s a big loss,” Browns trainer Kevin Stefanski stated Monday.” He’s that a massive portion of what we do. So now we will only need to huddle up, and find some different methods and find some different folks and set them in that function.

“You never replace a participant of Odell’s caliber with one player. It’s likely to take numerous men,” Stefanski added. “That’s the challenge we’ve and that I believe our guys are going to be up to the challenge”

On Mayfield’s first passing effort from the Bengals, he attempted to induce a throw to Beckham down the sideline. The chunk, however, was underthrown and picked off by Darius Phillips. Beckham turned around to chase the Cincinnati defensive back the other way, but crashed into Phillips and Cleveland fullback Andy Janovich, who also was trying to make the tackle.

After going 0-of-5 in the first quarter, Mayfield bounced back without Beckham to complete a franchise-record 21 consecutive passes and five touchdowns, including a game-winning, 24-yard scoring strike to rookie Donovan Peoples-Jones with 15 seconds remaining.

Marcus Spears details how big of a loss it is for the Browns that Odell Beckham Jr. will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL.

Afterward, Mayfield admitted to feeling guilty for the underthrow that led to Beckham’s injury.

“I’m probably going to beat myself up about that one for a long time,” Mayfield said. “He’s a guy who fights for this team, and in doing that, he got hurt. … it sucks.”

Mayfield said that at halftime Beckham told him to “go be great” in the second half. Mayfield went on to become just the second quarterback in NFL history to throw three go-ahead touchdown passes in a fourth quarter in Cleveland’s 37-34 win.

“That was what he left me with to open up the second half,” Mayfield said of Beckham’s encouragement. “That was something I continued to remember throughout the second half.”

Mayfield also gave a shout-out to Beckham on Instagram after Sunday’s win.

Browns wide receiver Jarvis Landry, who has been teammates with Beckham at LSU and now in Cleveland, went to Instagram on Monday morning to show his support.

“My heart hurt!!!!! I love you brudda,” Landry said in a post.

Since being traded in the New York Giants at March 2019, Beckham’s tenure with all the Browns was marred by accidents.

Beckham endured a hip and knee injury during training camp this past year, which hampered him during the season. He still ended with over 1,000 yards receiving, but had just four touchdown catches. Beckham had operation in January to repair this harm.

This season, he captured 23 moves for 319 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed three times for 72 yards and another score.
