Abebe Bikila – Countdown into Rio 2016 – 31 Iconic Olympic Moments
Ethiopian Abebe Bikila became the primary east African to win an Olympian trophy after finishing first at the Men’s Marathon in Rome 1960 despite being barefooted. Bikila subsequently defended his title at Tokyo 1964.
